The current iteration of the iPhone was a technological success, and the new sales records that Apple broke in the following weeks only served to validate that.
But as is the nature of the beast, people are waiting, chomping at the bit for the iPhone 5. Many people thought that the iPhone 5 would actually be announced in October, but this has not tamped down expectations in the least that 2012 (the year of release of the iPhone 5) will be any less successful either commercially or technologically or Apple.
Those who bought the iPhone 4S have overwhelmingly been extremely happy with their purchase. And the current iteration of the iPhone will no doubt bring the highest trade-in price when the iPhone 5 comes out.
Maybe the question should not be the choice between the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5, but rather it should be the smartest way to get both.
